Every sauna buyer starts with the same question and gets a fog of "from" prices and quote-only pages back. This index answers it from the catalogue we maintain: 96 products across 9 departments, each with a list price taken from the seller's own page. The tables below give the cheapest, the median and the dearest model in every department, and a per-seat figure for the three sauna departments, as recorded on Sep 22, 2026. It is republished every issue with the models whose prices moved.

List prices as recorded in the Sauna Monthly catalogue on Sep 22, 2026, 96 products. "Median start" is the median of each model's starting price; a model listed as a range counts at the bottom of its range. "Median per seat" divides the starting price by the maker's stated capacity and applies to the three sauna departments only.

Since the last issue

This is the first issue of the index. The September 2026 figures become the baseline, and from the next issue this block lists every department whose median moved and every model whose price changed.

How the index is built

The median is the middle model, so one $14,000 flagship cannot pull a department's figure up the way an average would. A model listed as a range, such as a barrel priced by roof and door options, counts at the bottom of its range, which is the price a buyer sees first. Per-seat figures divide that starting price by the capacity the maker states, so a two-to-three-person room counts as three seats. Quote-only cabins are recorded at the "from" figure the maker publishes, and a product with no numeric list price is left out of the count.

What the sticker leaves out

Every figure here is the room, the tub or the heater and nothing else. A traditional electric sauna wants a dedicated 240V circuit, commonly $600 to $2,500 installed. Kits ship as freight to the curb, and some brands sell the heater as a separate line. Our running-cost guide covers what a sauna costs once you own it, and the delivery guide covers what turning up on a pallet involves.

How to use it when you shop

Find the department, read the median, and treat a quote well above it as something the seller should be able to explain. Then read the cheapest and the dearest model, which are linked, because the gap between them is usually wood, heater and capacity rather than the heat you get. Check the date at the top of the table before quoting a figure; the catalogue is checked again for each issue, and the previous month's figures stay in the archive.
