Good to know: Electric only — bench layout doesn't allow a wood stove

Sauna Monthly verdict

4.8/ 5

The one you buy once and pass down.

Our anchor pick, and the one we'd choose if budget were no object. Built in-house from inch-and-a-half Western Red Cedar rather than a flat-packed import, it seats five and reaches a genuine 194°F in half an hour, with the LTE controller preheating it on your drive home. The cube shape trades the barrel's fast heat-up for full-height walls and two-tier benches you can actually lie on. Expensive, and worth understanding why.

What to know before you buy

Western Red Cedar, electric, 240V hardwired. The details that decide whether it fits your space, your electrical, and how you like to sweat.

Western Red Cedar
Naturally rot- and insect-resistant, aromatic, and low in thermal conductivity, so benches stay comfortable at 90°C. The premium sauna wood.
Electric
Thermostat-controlled heat at the flip of a switch — no chimney, consistent temperature, and app/timer control on many models.
240V Hardwired
Needs a dedicated 240V circuit installed by an electrician — budget roughly $600–$2,500 into the total price.
