Our anchor pick, and the one we'd buy if budget were no object: Nootka builds it in-house from inch-and-a-half clear Western Red Cedar. Five adults fit across the two bench tiers, and the upper deck is deep enough to lie flat on. The 9 kW heater reads 194°F in 30 to 45 minutes, sooner when the LTE controller starts preheating while you drive home. Expensive, and worth understanding why.

- How long does the Nootka Cube take to heat up?
- Nootka's 9 kW electric heater brings the Cube to 194°F in 30–45 minutes. A cube encloses more air than a barrel of similar seating, so plan on the longer end in winter. The LTE smart controller lets you start preheating from your phone before you get home.
- What electrical does the Cube need?
- A hardwired 240V circuit, installed by an electrician. The Cube is electric only; the two-tier bench layout leaves no room for a wood stove, so if you want to burn wood, look at Nootka's 10ft barrel instead.
- How many people actually fit?
- Five adults, seated across two bench tiers inside the 6'5" x 7'10" footprint. The upper bench is deep enough to lie flat on, which the barrels can't offer.
- Is delivery and installation included?
- In several Canadian cities Nootka delivers the Cube and installs it on site. Buyers elsewhere, including the US, receive it as a self-assembly kit shipped by freight.
- Should I get the Cube or a barrel?
